Gee is one of our winners of the Mode Republic Contest! Let’s learn more about her.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am just a 28 year old southern girl from Chattanooga, TN but went to college in Ohio and now live in West Virginia at the moment. I have a BA in Art with a concentration in painting. I work from home working with medical charts and paint on the side.
How did you become interested in fashion?
Not sure. I think it just happened. I was always the one girl in school who dressed a little differently than others. :) Then as life went on I began to really start to love vintage clothing and that is when I discovered blogging in late 2009. It's been a wonderful love affair since then.
What inspired you to start your own blog?
Well I didn't even know the blog world existed until late 2009 and then I started reading blogs from other girls and I was so inspired by their beauty and creativity I knew it was something I wanted to do. So the summer of 2010 I took the jump and started my own fashion blog.
What are your dreams and aspirations?
I really hope to travel around the world one day soon. I also would love to either sell or teach Art/painting. I would love to work with others and let them discover their artistic side.
How would you describe your style? What’s your favorite look at this moment?
My style would be vintage with a dash of modern, a dabble of romance, and a smidge of old lady.
My favorite look at the moment would be clogs and everything floral.
Where do you get your fashion inspirations?
A lot of inspiration is from other bloggers. There are way to many to name. No one is the same.
Where do you shop? What are your favorite brands?
I shop a lot on etsy and at thrift/vintage stores.
I also really enjoy H&M, forever21, and urban outfitters every once in awhile.
Congratulations again to Gee for winning the contest. Stay tuned for more fashion inspirations from Gee!

Fashionista from Poland :: Fille aux Cheveux de Lin
Fille aux Cheveux de Lin is one of our winners of the Mode Republic Contest! Let’s learn more about her.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Originally I’m from Poland, but now I live in Strasbourg, France. I study business and economics, which is actually more interesting than it sounds. I’m a blogger and I write about fashion for an online magazine called inspirer.nu
How did you become interested in fashion?
It may sound like cliché, but I’ve always been very fond of fashion, ever since I was a little girl. For me fashion is truly one of the most powerful forms of art, as it makes us put on the outside what’s hidden inside. Putting together an everyday outfit can become a creative process, depending on what statement we wish to make.
What inspired you to start your own blog?
I had been thinking about it for some time, when my sister gave me a push and encouraged me to do this. I like the idea of blogging as a way to exchange inspirations. My blog www.filleauxcheveuxdelin.blogspot.com is a playground for my creativity, a place where I can share the ideas bubbling up in my head.
What are your dreams and aspirations?
I’d love to encourage people to worship their individuality with clothes. I’d like to get more and more involved in a world of fashion, hopefully one day living from my passion.
How would you describe your style? What’s your favorite look at this moment?
It’s always hard for me to find one word to describe my style, especially because it evolves incessantly. It’s usually very girly, but I like to add some edge to that. At the moment I’m strongly influenced by the 70’ with its colors and dreamy whimsical attitude.
Where do you get your fashion inspirations?
Fashion magazines and blogs are an obvious answer. But it can also be a random girl in the street, a unique place or an old photograph.
Where do you shop? What are your favorite brands?
I usually get my clothes in popular shops like zara, h&m or new look. I love online shops like forever21 or modcloth and my biggest infatuation at the moment is nasty gal. I’m still searching for some full-of-treasures vintage shops in my neighborhood.
Congratulations again to Fille aux Cheveux for winning the contest. Stay tuned for more fashion inspirations from Fille aux Cheveux!

Someone Like You :: Lauren Pfieffer
Lauren is one of our trendsetters! Let’s learn more about her.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Lauren Pfieffer and I'm seventeen years old. I live in a place so small in Ohio that's actually considered a village! I'm a junior and still attending high school (unfortunately), and am currently looking into some different universities to attend in the next few years. It would be a total dream though to go into something fashion related!
How did you become interested in fashion?
As a young girl, I was very self-concious and over-weight. Not to mention I had hardly ever worn a dress. I envied the beautiful, fashionable girls with so much fervor and longed to be one of them. However, I was too shy and self-conscious of what everyone might think of me if I were to change myself. Finally after years of longing, the summer going into 8th grade I took a huge leap and changed myself. I started wearing dresses and wearing what I had always wanted to, but never had the courage. Ever since I haven't looked back or regretted becoming myself.
What inspired you to start your own blog?
At first I randomly stumbled upon a few vintage fashion blogs two years ago and was so fascinated... It was like a whole different world was opened up to me. The girls were so very inspiring and became huge role models for me! After a while of just following some blogs, I decided to create my own to document my ever changing style and of-course the evolution of myself as a person. Creating a blog has been one of the best decisions of my life!
What are your dreams and aspirations?
My dream is to be the girl I've always wanted to be someday. To be totally confident and love myself because honestly I don't think I'm quite there yet. I'm still on the journey of developing myself and my personal style and I hope one day I can be completely satisfied with it. I also hope that one day I will be satisfied with my life and where I am. Whether it's with fashion or some other career, I just want to be happy.
How would you describe your style? What’s your favorite look at this moment?
My style is a mixture of a few things. I would say it's mostly vintage/retro inspired, romantic, and without a doubt girly! Usually one of those adjectives can describe an outfit I'm wearing perfectly. Oh, and my favorite look right now? Peter pan collar dresses. I just love them to death, hehe! Peter pan collar dresses are the perfect mixture of whimsy and old-fashioned style and I just love to pair them with girly accessories such as key necklaces, lace socks, and bows.
Where do you get your fashion inspirations?
I think the blogging community is just so very inspiring... Through viewing all of the different blogs I follow it has helped me develop my individual style more because in my small town there isn't much going on style wise. Also, taking tips from ladies of the past is where I get a lot of my inspiration. Audrey Hepburn is timeless.
Where do you shop? What are your favorite brands?
Because I have hardly any money, I buy about 75% of my clothing at thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales, and church rummage sales. It's a great way to get beautiful, unique, vintage clothing for next to nothing. If I ever have a little money in my pocket, I like to also buy at Forever21. My dream store (which I sadly cannot afford) is Modcloth. Their clothing is impeccable...
